Notice of 2017 AGM

The Annual General Meeting will take place on Monday 27th February 2017 at Manea Methodist Chapel, during which we will elect the committee for the year ahead and present the King of the Band award.

Rehearsal will go ahead as usual before and after the meeting.

Vacant positions

The Manea Silver Band, under the baton of James Stygall, is a non-contesting fun band based in the Cambridgeshire fens. We require 1st and 2nd tenor horns and there are other vacant positions in basses and cornets.

Current players are flexible and are happy to accommodate newcomers.

We rehearse on a Monday evening in the Methodist Chapel in Manea from 7.30 to 9.30pm.

You are welcome to come along for a blow and meet the band with no commitment.

Manea Band on the BBC

Manea Silver Band took to the airwaves this week, as we were joined for a rehearsal by the lovely Sue Marchant for her Sunday night show broadcast on BBC Local Radio across Cambridgeshire, Essex, Norfolk and Suffolk. Sue met some of our players and heard what we're all about. The programme was broadcast at 7.00pm on 19th June, and can be heard for the next month on the BBC Radio iPlayer (41 minutes in).

Our newly appointed President . . .

We are pleased and proud to announce that Richard Hirson has agreed to be our President.  Richard is well known and highly respected in Manea having been the resident doctor for many years.  As President, Richard will promote the band and oversee the running of the committee.
The Manea Silver Band welcomes Richard and looks forward to working with him to further the band's mission of bringing brass music to the fens.

The 2016 AGM was held on Monday 25th January and the following members were elected to the committee for 2016-2017 :

We say farewell and a big thank you to our Musical Director, Shaun Pope for his leadership and commitment during his period as MD.

We are pleased to announce that the winner of the Billie King Memorial award is Joseph Winters. Joseph has made great progress this year and supports the band in so many ways.
