Manea Band on the BBC

Manea Silver Band took to the airwaves this week, as we were joined for a rehearsal by the lovely Sue Marchant for her Sunday night show broadcast on BBC Local Radio across Cambridgeshire, Essex, Norfolk and Suffolk. Sue met some of our players and heard what we're all about. The programme was broadcast at 7.00pm on 19th June, and can be heard for the next month on the BBC Radio iPlayer (41 minutes in).

Our newly appointed President . . .

We are pleased and proud to announce that Richard Hirson has agreed to be our President.  Richard is well known and highly respected in Manea having been the resident doctor for many years.  As President, Richard will promote the band and oversee the running of the committee.
The Manea Silver Band welcomes Richard and looks forward to working with him to further the band's mission of bringing brass music to the fens.

The 2016 AGM was held on Monday 25th January and the following members were elected to the committee for 2016-2017 :

We say farewell and a big thank you to our Musical Director, Shaun Pope for his leadership and commitment during his period as MD.

We are pleased to announce that the winner of the Billie King Memorial award is Joseph Winters. Joseph has made great progress this year and supports the band in so many ways.

Annual General Meeting 2016

The Manea Silver Band Annual General Meeting will take place on Monday 25th January 2016 at 8.00pm at the Manea Methodist Chapel during which we will review the events of 2015 and elect the committee for the year ahead. A rehearsal will go ahead as usual, before and after the meeting.

We are also pleased to announce the worthy recipient of the Billie King Memorial Award, our wonderful principal cornet player Vicky Atkinson is the new Queen of the Band.

Notice of AGM

The Annual General Meeting will take place on Monday 9th March 2015 at 8.00pm, during which we will be electing the committee for the year ahead, and presenting the King of the Band award. Rehearsal as usual, before and after the meeting.

Opening for a Principal Euph

As our players and followers know, Manea Silver Band aims to offer something fresh in the Fens. 

We are a non-contesting band, preferring instead to focus on our fun, innovative concert programme.  It’s a great place to let your hair down and we have several members who also play for First Section bands. 

Following our relaunch in 2011, the band is growing fast, adding 11 new players in the last 2 years!  2015 promises to be exciting times for us, with some great gigs to be announced soon, including our first foray into music festivals!

Sadly, our Principal Euph player Malcolm has recently retired, so we have an opening for a Solo Euph.
